My name is Matt Molinari, I am Bob’s middle son (of 3) and for as long as I can remember bicycles have been a part of my life. As a kid growing up in the world of bikes I can recall family rides that would take us everywhere. Whether we were strapped into a trailer or exploring the complexities our first gear bike some of the greatest memories came through the adventures out on the trail.
Now that I’m raising a family of my own I have gained an appreciation for this type of adventure you never fully understand as a kid. Here is why I make riding a priority for my kids…
Slows you down: Our culture has taught us how to pack as much as humanly possible into a single day. When we hop on the bike everything slows down, my 3 year old Joey (attached to me via trail-a-bike) and I get to talk about our day and tell stories as we cruise down the bike trail.
Gives you a new perspective: You’d be amazed at what you learn about your community when you take the time to ride your bike on it’s streets. We discover new places to play, routes to take and people to meet.
An Enjoyable Exercise: I applaud my parents for tricking me into getting off the couch and going for a ride. It sounds way better than telling me we’re going to the gym or doing some rigorous exercise but still gets the job done.
Inexpensive Activity: Getting the right size & a good quality bike takes an investment but compared dollar amount per hour against some alternatives it will very quickly become the cheapest choice.
So get out there and ride. Bring the whole family. I can pretty much guarantee that it will make a difference in your life.
How about you… Where do you ride & how do you include the whole family in your adventure?
